Lower Dolpa Circuit Trek Nepal
Overview
The Lower Dolpa Circuit Trek offers a rare journey through Nepal’s remote trans-Himalayan landscape, blending stark natural beauty with deep-rooted Tibetan Buddhist and Bon Po culture. Set in the rain shadow of the Dhaulagiri Himal, this arid high-altitude desert is a land of vast open spaces, howling winds, solitary monasteries, and the scent of juniper drifting through ancient trails.
Trekking through Shey Phoksundo National Park, you'll encounter the brilliant turquoise Phoksundo Lake, Nepal’s deepest and arguably most beautiful and pass through traditional villages untouched by time. The region is also home to elusive wildlife such as snow leopards and blue sheep, and echoes with the ancient rhythm of yak caravans and spiritual life.
Unlike the Upper Dolpa region, the Lower Dolpa Circuit is more accessible, both logistically and financially, as it don’t require a high-cost restricted-area permit. Yet it remains equally rewarding for those seeking authentic Himalayan culture, dramatic landscapes, and a true sense of isolation and adventure—far from the beaten trekking paths.
