Overview

The Gokyo Valley, nestled in the upper Dudh Koshi Valley, offers a spectacular and less traveled route into the heart of the Khumbu. Surrounded by some of the Himalayas’ most dramatic landscapes, the Gokyo Trek is widely regarded as one of the finest and most rewarding trekking experiences in the entire Everest region. A major highlight of the journey is the ascent of Gokyo Ri, one of the best viewpoints in the Everest region, offering breathtaking panoramic views of four of the world’s highest mountains over 8,000 meters: Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. From the summit, trekkers can also admire the stunning turquoise waters of the Gokyo Lakes and the vast Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. With its spectacular mountain scenery, glacial landscapes, high-altitude lakes, and rich Sherpa culture, the Gokyo Trek provides an unforgettable Himalayan adventure and a spectacular alternative to the classic Everest Base Camp route.
